Winter CSA

Welcome to Patchwork's Winter CSA (local food box)

Winter 2017-2018

Registration is closed, but will reopen for next winter on Sept. 1, 2018.

Do you want to keep eating locally throughout most of the winter?  For the 7th year, we have a winter CSA that will allow you to do just that!

What is it?

The Winter CSA consists of four monthly pick-ups starting in November and ending in February.

Members will receive a box of our nutritious veggies each month valued at at least $75.

Check out the list below to see what we are planning to have in each share.

Share cost: $300

Pick up dates:

Wednesday, November 8

Wednesday, December 6

Wednesday, January 10

Wednesday, February 7

Pick up times and location:

At the Farm in Battersea:

on the Wednesday after 1pm.

In Kingston downtown location TBD (we will let you know once finalized but it will be downtown Kingston)-

on the Wednesday 3:30-5:30pm.

**Please decide on the location and stick to it. If you need to make a change in location, please let Megan know or we will not have your produce packed and ready for you.

The Patchwork Winter Garden CSA plan: this year's share will be very similar to last year with adjustments made for volumes based on feedback from all of you - thank you!

There will be no substitutions.

Below is a sample of what could be in your box each month. Please note that this is the plan and is subject to change based on the weather and crop availability.

November : carrots, onions, garlic, acorn squash, fingerling potatoes, downtown greens, baby kale greens, kale bunch, Swiss chard, bok choy, arugula, salad turnips.

December : carrots, beets, purple top turnips, kale bunch, garlic, onions, butternut squash, potatoes, cabbage celeriac, pea shoots/micro greens, Chinese cabbage.

January : carrots, fingerling potatoes, onions, garlic, shallots, butternut squash, celeriac, pea shoots/micro greens, parsnips, pesto.

February : carrots, beets, cabbage, onions, garlic, pesto, potatoes, turnips, pea shoots/microgreens, watermelon radish, 100% sourdough bread.

A note on volume: Many customers have wondered if this will be too much food for them. We know that most homes do not have a lot of extra storage space so we do not want to overwhelm anyone.  At each pick up there will be an average of $75 of fresh and/or stored vegetables for everyone. This seems to be a good amount of food to provide a basis for meals so you always have some veg on hand.  Don't worry too much if you don't get to it right away as most of the veggies will store for a long time.
